How Gulf Hotels Verify Indian Hospitality Credentials - What DataFlow
Gulf hotel chains use DataFlow Group to verify every Indian hospitality qualification before issuing a work visa. Here is what gets verified and how to prepare.
How Gulf Hotels Verify Indian Hospitality Credentials - What DataFlow Checks and How to Prepare
Every Indian hospitality worker applying for a Gulf hotel position will have their qualifications verified. For UAE, Qatar, and Bahrain hotel roles, this verification is conducted by DataFlow Group - a specialised credentials verification company used by government immigration authorities across the Gulf.
DataFlow is not a formality. Credentials that fail verification result in visa refusal. Credentials that pass get you to the Gulf faster. Understanding exactly how the process works is the difference between a smooth placement and weeks of unnecessary delay.
What DataFlow Is and Who Uses It
DataFlow Group is an Abu Dhabi-headquartered company that verifies academic and professional credentials on behalf of Gulf government authorities and employers. Their process involves contacting the issuing institution directly to confirm that the certificate is genuine, was issued to the named individual, and contains accurate information.
Who uses DataFlow for Indian hospitality workers
-
UAE MOHRE (Ministry of Human Resources) for work permit processing
-
Qatar ADLSA (Administrative Development, Labour and Social Affairs Ministry)
-
Bahrain LMRA (Labour Market Regulatory Authority)
-
Major hotel chains with their own verification mandates (Marriott, Hilton, Jumeirah, Rotana)
Saudi Arabia uses a parallel system for healthcare professionals. For general hospitality roles in Saudi, employers typically verify through NCHMCT and THSC portals directly rather than DataFlow.
What DataFlow Verifies in Hospitality Credentials
DataFlow contacts the issuing institution and checks five things:
1. Certificate authenticity
Is this a real certificate issued by this institution? Certificates from fake or unrecognised institutions fail immediately. Certificates that have been altered (different ink, changed dates or marks) fail verification.
2. Candidate identity match
Does the name on the certificate match the passport name exactly? Even minor differences - "Mohammed" vs "Mohammad", a missing middle name, hyphenated surname in one document but not the other - can cause delays or failures.
3. Completion of course/programme
Did this candidate actually complete the programme stated? For IHM or NCHMCT qualifications, DataFlow contacts the institute's examination cell directly. For THSC certifications, they verify against the SkillIndia Digital QR database.
4. Dates and grades
Were the dates and result stated on the certificate accurately represented? Altered passing dates or inflated grades are a common fraud vector that DataFlow specifically checks.
5. Institutional accreditation status
Is the issuing institution recognised by the relevant Indian regulatory body (NCHMCT, AICTE, or THSC/NSDC)? Certificates from unaccredited private institutes fail at this stage regardless of the certificate's content.
Which Indian Hospitality Qualifications Pass DataFlow
Reliably pass DataFlow
-
NCHMCT qualifications: IHM Diploma (3-year), NCHMCT Craft Certificate (1-year) from all government-affiliated institutes. DataFlow has established verification channels with NCHMCT's National Council.
-
THSC (Tourism and Hospitality Skill Council) certificates: Verified via SkillIndia Digital portal QR code. DataFlow uses the same portal. Functional QR on your certificate = passable.
-
City and Guilds certificates: UK-issued, verified through City and Guilds' own verification service. DataFlow uses direct contact with City and Guilds London.
-
IHM certificates from AICTE-affiliated private institutes: Verifiable through AICTE's approved institute list. DataFlow contacts the institution's registrar directly.
May cause delay or fail
-
Certificates from unrecognised private catering institutes: Not on any national registry. DataFlow cannot verify through any authoritative channel. Result: unverifiable.
-
Certificates with name-passport mismatch: Even legitimate certificates with name discrepancies cause delays until an affidavit of identity is provided.
-
Experience letters from closed or relocated properties: If the hotel named on your experience letter has closed, changed name, or disconnected its main number, DataFlow cannot verify the letter.
-
Attested copies without original attestation chain: Photocopied attestations are rejected. Original attestation marks from State HRD and MEA are required.
The Pre-DataFlow Checklist
Before submitting your credentials for DataFlow verification, run this check yourself:
Step 1: Name consistency
Open your passport and your certificate side by side. Is the name identical in spelling and format? If there is any discrepancy, obtain an affidavit of identity from a Notary Public (₹200-500 at most courts) explaining the discrepancy before submission.
Step 2: QR code test (THSC certificates)
Scan the QR code on your THSC certificate with any QR reader. It should open a SkillIndia Digital page showing your name, certificate number, and issuing institution. If it does not, contact your SSC for a re-issue before applying.
Step 3: NCVT-MIS verification (ITI/NCVT qualifications used for hotel engineering roles)
Go to ncvtmis.gov.in and search your NTC number. Confirm your record is live and accurate.
Step 4: Attestation chain
Confirm your certificate has been attested in the correct sequence: Institution original - State Education Board (or THSC/NCHMCT) - State HRD Ministry - MEA apostille.
Step 5: Experience letter verification test
Call the HR number of your previous employer listed on your experience letter. Confirm the HR contact is still there and is aware of the verification process. Brief them that they may receive a call from DataFlow.
How Long DataFlow Takes
DataFlow verification typically takes 7-21 working days from submission, depending on:
-
Responsiveness of the issuing institution
-
Whether the certificate requires an apostille from MEA (adds 3-7 days)
-
Whether there are discrepancies requiring resolution
What slows it down
-
Institution does not respond to DataFlow's first contact (happens with smaller private institutes)
-
MEA apostille not obtained before submission
-
Name discrepancy not resolved in advance
What speeds it up
-
Pre-attested documents submitted
-
No name discrepancies
-
THSC QR-based verification (fastest - typically 2-3 working days)
-
Previously verified institutions (DataFlow maintains a database of institutions they have worked with before)
The DataFlow Application Process
In most Gulf hotel placements, DataFlow verification is initiated by your employer's HR or your placement agency - not by you directly. However, you can apply for DataFlow verification independently at dataflowgroup.com if you want to get verified before applying to roles. This "pre-verified" status is a competitive advantage - mentioning "DataFlow verified" in your application tells the employer that a common bottleneck has already been cleared.
Cost: AED 450-650 (approximately ₹9,900-14,300) paid by the applicant for self-initiated verification. Employer-initiated verification is paid by the employer.
The Fraud Warning
DataFlow exists because credential fraud in Gulf hospitality is documented and ongoing. Common fraud vectors that Indian authorities and employers are actively tracking:
-
Fake IHM certificates from non-existent or unaffiliated institutes
-
Genuine certificates from real institutes, altered (dates changed, scores modified)
-
Experience letters from businesses that never existed as described
-
Certificates of the correct template but not actually issued by the named institution
Submitting fraudulent credentials is a criminal offence under UAE, Qatar, and Bahrain law. Workers found with fraudulent credentials are deported and blacklisted from re-entry. The blacklist is shared across GCC countries. Do not do it.
Honest credentials, properly attested, move fastest.
